Love is in the air
Love is in the air this week and on the blog! First off, Happy early Valentines Day to you all!
I hope you are indulging on your favourite chocolates like I am right now! Today I want to share with you some of my favourite memories, foods, treats, and a few gushy lovey, and goofy pictures that my husband and I took together!
I think we can all agree that Valentines Day is a little overrated. I've always been single around Valentines Day up until last year. So Valentines wasn’t that big of a deal to me. February 15th is even a bigger deal because I have to wake up early and zip over to Walmart and get all the discount chocolate. I actually did that two years ago and I got like 10 bags of Reeses Peanut Butter Hearts for like a $1 each. I felt like I had won the lottery. I had chocolate for days in my house. I know Warden would totally be up for that idea this year again.
Last Year, Warden and I were dating and he surprised me with a scavenger hunt around my house. My roommates actually let him in the house to set it all up after I had left for work that day. So when I got home from work that night the first clue was I believe in my room. I remember one of the clues I couldn’t figure out and I started to get impatient.(I blame it on my hunger levels.) And another clue I had to go down the street and open my mailbox. And it was freezing cold outside. The last clue was him at the front door with roses and the letter board saying “Will you be my valentine?” I will have to admit it was pretty cute!
After we made homemade pizzas and I made the dough into a heart shape. Then we made Oreo cheesecake for dessert because that’s Wardens favourite. Overall, it was a great day.made lots of fun memories and it was not an expensive date. I feel like sometimes you have to spend a extravagant amount of money for any festive holiday, or date, but you really don't!
I personally don't go overboard for Valentine’s Day. I just like to spend it with (now that I’m married, my husband Warden!) And we just like to do a fun date and spend some time together and eat some chocolate together! I'm not too sure what we have planned for this year, but its been freezing out so we will probably just do something together in the house!
My favourite valentines treats are: Reeses Peanut Butter cups. Hershey kisses and hugs, but I love all type of chocolate to be honest though. But if I had to pick just for Valentines. I would be Reese’s. You will probably think my crazy on this next one but I also love cinnamon hearts. I’ve always liked cinnamon candies though.
! A few years ago, I made heart shaped Rice Krispie treats dipped in chocolate and sprinkles. That was fun to do. I'll link the recipe I used here.
It would be a fun one if you had kids to! This year I think I am going to make oreo cookies with cream cheese filling. Those are definitely a fav in the house!
But I have to stop talking about chocolate and treats though because its making me so hungry!
I found the cutest quote that I just had to put on my letterboard for Valentines! And with lots of begging from my husband, I got him to take some pictures with me! We always make butt jokes to each other. It's almost like a competition of who's butt is better and bigger and more bootylicious! (is that even a word?) So I thought it went really well for the setting! Just a warning though, I added quite a few and some are blurry because we got a little goofy on some of them. I just thought they were super cute not to share for Valentines!
I'm so grateful for a husband that puts up with me and all my crazy ideas. I appreciate him for taking pictures for me and with me! I am also grateful for all that he does, whether its a special holiday or not. He makes me feel loved and I love him so much! I hope you all have a fantastic Valentines Day, eat lots of Valentines candy and spend it with the ones you love!
